How to Create a Bounty

If you were involved in an incident and need dashcam footage, posting a bounty is the fastest way to find it. Dashcam owners in the area will be notified and can submit relevant recordings directly to you.

Before You Start

Make sure you have:

  • A RoadFootage account (sign in here)
  • The date, time, and location of the incident
  • Enough points in your wallet to fund the bounty

Steps to Create a Bounty

  1. Sign in to your RoadFootage account at roadfootage.com.au.
  2. From your dashboard, click Create a Bounty.
  3. Enter the date, time, and location of the incident. Be as precise as you can — this determines which dashcam owners are notified.
  4. Set a bounty amount in points. A higher bounty attracts more responses.
  5. Add an optional description — e.g. “looking for footage of a rear-end collision at the intersection of X and Y”.
  6. Review and submit your bounty.

Once posted, eligible dashcam owners will be notified. You’ll receive footage submissions in your account.

Reviewing Submissions

When footage is submitted against your bounty:

  • You’ll receive a notification in your account.
  • You can preview a short excerpt before deciding whether to purchase.
  • If the footage is useful, approve the submission to complete the exchange. Points are deducted from your wallet and transferred to the submitter.

Points and Wallet

Bounty funds are held in your RoadFootage wallet. You can top up your wallet from your account dashboard.

If no suitable footage is found, your bounty expires and any unspent points are returned to your wallet.
